Media Hurriyet and TODAY 'SZAMAN reported in August 3, 2010 that Mr.NihatErgun, Minister of industry and trade (MinistryofIndustryandTrade) of Turkey, said that the Ministry had sampled 77 imported products including garments, scarves, shoes and toys, and found that most of the textiles made in China and Taiwan were tested for nitrogen dyes (Azodye) containing carcinogenic risk to the human body.

(Azodye) ArylAzo is harmful to human health. Nitrogen compounds (Nitrogencompounds) are believed to be carcinogenic, but are often used in textile industry to make cloth color, especially red, orange and yellow tricolor.
The above products contain CE certification, which may be exported to EU countries by EU countries. The Minister of Ergun said that these harmful substances can only be found through rigorous tests.
Products that were unqualified, including hats, pillowcases and toys that affect children's health, have been confiscated.
After being informed of the news, Istanbul's Taiwan Trade Centre immediately contacted the media.
