Lesotho; Textile Industry

According to Lesotho's national news agency on March 27, J & s fashion and tzicc, two large textile mills in the thetsane Industrial Zone in Maseru, are about to close down or lay off workers.

Mokhele, head of the national garment Federation and the workers' Union (nactwu), said J & s fashion was planning to close down completely due to the lack of international orders due to the epidemic. At the same time, tzicc had planned to shut down completely, but the Union had convinced it to consider alternative options, in which workers would rotate to work two weeks a month to earn a meager income.

It is understood that J & s fashion has more than 1000 workers, while tzicc has about 800 workers.
