China Cotton Association: "China Cotton" Sustainable Production Standard Released

The standard takes cotton sustainable production as the goal, pays attention to the core issues of agricultural sustainable development such as the management and use of agricultural chemicals, ecological environment protection, cotton quality and occupational health and safety in the cotton planting process. It is an important part of the "China cotton" sustainable development project (CCSD).

The standard will be implemented in the first six production partners of CCSD project this year, as well as the production and operation units (including small farmers) who are willing to carry out sustainable cotton planting according to the standard, and transmit the sustainable cotton raw materials to the downstream brands and consumers.

The person in charge of China Cotton Association said that China is an important cotton production, consumption and textile and clothing export country in the world. The release and implementation of the standard is helpful to guide cotton producers to adopt sustainable production and management mode, meet people's demand for high-quality and sustainable cotton products, solve the problem of unbalanced development of the industry, promote the construction of ecological civilization, increase the income of cotton farmers and improve the level of rural economic development.
