MUJI: Being Deeply Concerned About The Xinjiang Report Does Not Mean That You Agree With The Content Or Opinions Of The Report
On March 29, according to global.com, in a statement by Ryuko, the suspected parent company of Muji, Muji said it was "deeply concerned" about reports of "forced labor" in Xinjiang. The statement said the company had checked the Xinjiang plant supplying the products and "no major problems have been found" at present. At the same time, the statement also said that the company purchased cotton from all over the world, including China.
In response, Muji China headquarters said in an interview that the company did not boycott Xinjiang cotton and was using Xinjiang cotton. The "deep concern" in the statement does not mean to agree with any specific content or opinion of the report.
Meanwhile, Muji China headquarters also stressed that it will continue to follow international standards and pay close attention to various reports and reports.
It is understood that some netizens found that H & M group had issued a statement on its website that it would not cooperate with any garment manufacturing factories in Xinjiang, nor purchase raw materials from the region. This triggered a boycott of H & M throughout the network, and many brands were subsequently exposed to boycott Xinjiang cotton.
Japan's Kyodo News Agency reported in February this year that 12 Japanese companies, including Muji and UNIQLO, planned to suspend trading with "Chinese companies that have confirmed their participation in forced labor in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China". The worst case is the cotton industry. Subsequently, Muji China headquarters denied the news.
