The Chinese Government Provides Burma With 30 Million Yuan Emergency Assistance.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Qin Gang announced at a regular press conference on 8 July: in view of the serious disaster in Burma, to reflect the friendly feelings of the Chinese government and people towards the Burma people, the Chinese government decided to provide the Burma government with assistance worth 30 million yuan to support the disaster relief and reconstruction of the Burma government and people.

Qin Gang said that in order to help the Burma government and people cope with typhoon disasters, the Chinese government has provided Burmese $1 million worth of emergency assistance, and the first batch of relief materials worth about $500 thousand has been handed over to Burmese in May 7th.

He said that the Chinese Red Cross Society and the foreign friends association were informed that after the disaster, they offered $30 thousand and $10 thousand to Burma respectively, and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation announced that it would provide Burmese $100 thousand worth of assistance.

The Yunnan provincial government, the the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region government, the all China Women's Federation, the China Poverty Alleviation foundation and the China nonferrous metals mineral company also intend to provide emergency assistance to Burma.

China's emergency rescue teams and medical teams are ready to participate in disaster relief at any time in Burma.
