The EU Has Become The Largest Market For Textile And Clothing Exports In Jiangsu.

The EU has become the largest textile export market in Jiangsu province for the first time, due to the restriction of the cancellation of export volume and favorable policies.

According to statistics from the Ministry of foreign trade and economic cooperation, from 1 to February this year, the province exported $970 million to the European Union, an increase of 23.7%, surpassing the United States and Japan.

Since the beginning of this year, the province's textile and clothing exports have been steadily slowing down since last year, and exported 4 billion 200 million US dollars in the first two months, an increase of 11.5% over the same period last year, which is 1.8 percentage points higher than the national average.

In several major markets, exports to the European Union increased rapidly, while exports to the United States slowed down significantly, up 8% over the same period last year, and the market share fell to the third place in 2007.

Exports to Japan continued to decline from last year, only 2.1% growth last year, up 4% in the first two months of this year, continuing to rank second.

People from the Department of foreign trade and economic cooperation said that Jiangsu's textile and apparel exports to the EU have maintained a good momentum of gradual decline in the low end products and steady increase in volume and price.

Export enterprises should treasure them more, strictly enforce bilateral rules, and avoid rushing headlong into mass action to prevent other export countries' views due to the sharp increase in export volume, leading to the implementation of new trade protection measures by the EU.
